  1. Scream (1996)

Title - the word "SCREAM" in bold white. This tells the audience that this is a thriller due to the word scream which has connotations with fear

Colour - the film poster has a filter of black and white, however the woman's eyes in the picture have been coloured blue. This could highlight the fear in her eyes

Slogan - "Someone has taken their love for scary movies too far" could indicate the killer's personality

Pose - Hand covering the mouth could indicate how the woman is scared and horrified

2. The Shining (1980)

Title - "THE SHINING" in bold black, the colour black can have connotations with death and evil

Colour - the film poster uses a Serpia filter, this could highlight how the film is old fashioned

Slogan - "The tide of terror that swept America away" could indicate how successful the film was

Pose - Jack Nicholson has his face through a broken door with a psychotic smile (which indicates that he is the killer), and the woman on the other side is screaming in terror as an axe breaks through the door. We as the audience can tell that this is a thriller due to the use of weaponry

3. Shutter Island (2010)

Title - "SHUTTER ISLAND" in red. Red has connotations with blood and danger

Colour - The colour is very muted except for the match stick in Leornardo's hand. The colour in the film poster can also be considered masculine colours

Slogan - "Someone is missing." The fact that the slogan in the film poster is really tiny could indicate a secret in the film. This leaves the audience feeling intrigued to know more

Pose - Leonardo Dicaprio is faded into the sky with a match and a serious face which could indicate fear
